3rd World Bicycle Day DKMT Cross Border Tour 2024

The World Bicycle Day is getting close so we are also getting ready to celebrate it in a cross-border setting, cycling around the Triplex Confinium monument at the confluence of the borders between Hungary, Romania and Serbia!

The third edition of the joint riding celebration will take place on Sunday, June 2nd, starting at 10:00 HU/SRB time or 11:00 RO time.

You are invited to join a ride of about 120 km, starting from the Hungarian village of Kübekháza, and advancing in the counterclockwise direction entering Serbia at Rabe, after the compulsory photoshoot session at the Triplex Confinium monument, going through Majdan, Banatsko Aranđelovo, Novi Kneževac, Sanad, Čoka, passing close to Banatski Monoštor and Crna Bara, entering Romania at the Vrbica-Valcani border crossing, continuing through Valcani and Dudeștii Vechi, Sânnicolau-Mare, Cenad, re-entering Hungary and getting back to Kübekháza after also riding through Kiszombor.

In terms of the ride conditions, all of the riding will be on relatively low traffic asphalt roads.

We are estimating a total ride time or around 7 hours, and an average speed of 22-23 km/h. The total ride time will includ breaks for photo shoots at Triplex Confinium or for grabbing snacks, coffees and beverages in the shops we’ll encounter in the villages on route.

The tour will start at 10:00 AM (HU/SRB time), equivalent to 11:00 AM (RO time). At the end of the tour we’d like to spend an hour or so together at the Kübecker Manufaktur, enjoying a goulash or a burger and a beer while debriefing a great cycling day and planning for the coming summer and autumn cross-border rides.

For planning reasons it might be worth knowing that Kübekhaza is located at about 20 kms from Szeged, 25 km from Mako, 40 km from Sânnicolau Mare, 55 km from Kikinda, 65 km from Subotica, 95 km from Arad, 110 km from Timișoara, 145 km from Novi Sad or about 190 km from Vrsac and Budapest, 200 kms from Belgrade and 665 kms from Bucharest (we feel you! :) ).
